Professional Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening, also known as teeth bleaching, is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment that can dramatically enhance the appearance of your smile by changing the color of your natural tooth enamel. In today's image-conscious society, having whiter, brighter teeth has become the top aesthetic concern for many patients, leading to a surge in the popularity of various teeth whitening methods. Modern Haus Dental offers multiple teeth whitening options catered to our patients preferences ranging from immediate results to lengthier treatments with even better outcomes.

Reasons Why / Benefits

The most common and effective approach is the use of a professional take-home whitening system, which can produce remarkably whiter results compared to over-the-counter options. However, it's important to note that tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, so any existing dental work such as fillings, crowns, or veneers may need to be replaced after the whitening process to ensure a seamless, uniform appearance. The effects of tooth whitening are not permanent, and touch-up treatments may be required every few years, especially for those who regularly consume staining substances like coffee, tea, red wine, or who smoke.

Fortunately, our dental practice offers both in-office and take-home professional whitening treatments using the advanced Kor Whitening system, which can address a variety of discoloration issues, from fluorosis and natural wear and tear to staining caused by certain medications such as Tetracycline. This whitening system typically involves two to three appointments - the first to take impressions for your custom-fitted trays, you would then come in to pick up your custom trays and provide you instructions on using the specialized whitening solution, which is worn overnight for a couple of weeks, depending on the severity of the staining. The final appointment is in the in-office whitening that takes 90 minutes to instantly get a whiter smile! The Kor Whitening includes a desensitizing solution to minimize post-op sensitivity.

Internal Bleaching

Internal bleaching is a specialized dental procedure designed to whiten teeth that have undergone root canal treatment and become discolored. This process targets staining from the inside of the tooth, unlike traditional external whitening methods. Internal bleaching is an excellent solution for patients who have noticed darkening of a root canal-treated tooth, especially in visible front teeth. The treatment can significantly improve the appearance of discolored teeth, restoring a brighter, more uniform smile

Some temporary tooth sensitivity is normal during the whitening period, but this discomfort will subside shortly after the treatment is complete. By following the provided care instructions and maintaining regular dental visits, patients can enjoy the long-lasting benefits of a brighter, more youthful-looking smile.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile. Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.

As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and may someday need replacement. They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.

Reasons for porcelain veneers:

  • Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile
  • Crooked teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Severely discolored or stained teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or large
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces
  • Worn or chipped teeth

What does getting porcelain veneers involve?

Getting veneers usually requires two visits to complete the process, with little localized anesthesia required during the procedure.  The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer.  A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and the dentist.

On the second visit the teeth will be cleansed with special liquids to achieve a durable bond.  Bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and set the bond.

You will receive care instructions for veneers.  Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new veneers.
